Recognizing the increasing desire for on-campus living and its positive impact on student engagement and success, Indiana Tech set out to create a new residence hall that would not only meet this demand but also elevate the campus living experience.
To bring this vision to life, Elevatus – as part of a design-build team – was selected to design a modern, mixed-use residence hall that integrates student housing with retail opportunities, enriching both campus life and the surrounding community.
Situated on the north end of campus, Summit Hall offers more than 8,000 square feet of versatile retail space on the ground level, designed to attract a variety of tenants — from convenience stores and coffee shops to a potential brewpub. Above, the second through fourth floors house 99 single-occupancy dorms, 33 per floor, each offering identical layouts and premium amenities to ensure comfort and consistency. Every floor includes thoughtfully designed study lounges, communal spaces with kitchenettes, and laundry facilities, fostering both academic focus and social interaction.
This new residence hall reflects Indiana Tech’s commitment to providing students with more than just a place to live — it’s a hub of connection, collaboration, and convenience. By combining living spaces with dynamic retail options, the hall seamlessly blends daily student life with the vibrancy of the campus community, ensuring students feel fully immersed in their collegiate experience.
