As part of Meijer’s ongoing plan to keep its stores fresh and up-to-date, Elevatus Architecture was selected to provide A/E design services for remodeling Meijer superstores in Battle Creek, Coldwater, and Portage, Michigan. All renovations were completed while the stores remained open 24/7. Planning the design alongside the construction manager ensured that each store’s daily operation was only minimally disrupted.
Each superstore’s remodel included site improvements and the reconditioning of existing elements, new façade treatments and design, reconfiguring the store exterior and gas station amenities, adding a pharmacy drive-up window, new finishes throughout each store, relocating and/or adding bottle return facilities, pharmacy and related departments, new team areas, and new electronics areas, and extensively reconfiguring the food prep areas of the deli, seafood, meat, and bakery departments. Design services also included a full store audit and report, in addition to an asset inventory process where we provided an inventory and assessment of all built-in, temporary, and permanent fixtures in each store.
