Weir Cook Terminal was one of the first new terminals to be constructed after September 11, 2001. Thus, its design takes into consideration not only the comfort and convenience of the general traveling public but also the heightened security needs of everyone working within and passing through. Contained in the modern sweep of the structure is, of course, the terminal itself, concourses equipped with advanced technology, a parking garage, the traffic control tower, and easy access from I-70.
This was also the first airport in the United States to achieve LEED Certification for an entire terminal campus. The certification applies to the terminal, concourses, ground transportation center, and parking garage.
