Outgrowing the capacity of their original building at the time, the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne embarked on a capital campaign mission to raise more than $8 million dollars to construct a world-class facility for children.
Highlighting spaces needed to transform the lives of teenage children was especially important in this new facility. Presenting kids to career opportunities through various classrooms, collaboration zones, mentorship and tutoring spaces was a priority throughout all of the design stages. The entire second floor is practically dedicated to teenagers with several learning center rooms, an e-gaming suite, a dance studio, a café, and a game room. The space flows to encourage learning and growth but also allows freedom to take breaks and enjoy friendships.
The first floor includes a trades partnering room to teach future generations the various opportunities through trades programs. Additional spaces included are 3 large learning center rooms, a STEAM/art lab, a gymnasium, both large and small game rooms, and a multi-purpose/cafeteria for select performances. The new space also allows a large office suite to accommodate the growing staff and storage needs.
