Elevatus welcomes Architectural Graduate Favian Cervantes
It was in Mexico where Favian Cervantes first fell in love with architecture.
On a family trip, Favian found himself mesmerized by the grand churches in different Mexican cities and towns the family visited. The towering, ornate Spanish colonial cathedrals captivated him.
“There’s even a family video clip of me looking out the window asking my dad how they make the churches and saying, ‘I want to be an architect one day…‘ he says.
That day has come. Favian has recently joined Elevatus as an Architectural Graduate after graduating from Ball State University with both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture, along with a certificate in Digital Fabrication.
Favian was born in Fort Wayne but spent his boyhood years in Missouri. The family moved back to Indiana, though, and Favian went to high school in Kendallville before heading off to Muncie.
That’s where we found him. Architect and Education Team Lead Emily Hower was a former classmate of Favian’s and recruited him, he says.
“I was sold by the culture of the firm,” he says. “Elevatus appeared to be a place that everybody works hard to produce good work, but also knows how to have fun and enjoy the little things.”
Guilty as charged.
As an Architectural Graduate, Favian will support the design process on various ongoing projects, including creating detailed drawings, models, and renderings, under the guidance of project managers. He says he’s passionate about design and being able to take a client’s ideas from paper to the real world, and he’s excited to continue to learn and grow and use his skills.
What are those skills? You’ll get a kick out of this response:
“I bring a very particular set of skills… Skills I’ve acquired over my very, not so, long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for any set of drawings… Yes, that was my take on the ‘Taken’ quote, but I like to think I bring not only my creativity but the ability to be flexible and help out where I can. All while continuing to learn and grow to further help the firm in the future!”
You’ve got to love that.
Outside of the office, Favian enjoys working out, playing video games, riding his motorcycle, and especially spending time with his wife (you’ll meet her in a later blog post because we hired her, too) and family.
“They’re the most important thing to me and I like to make as many memories with them as possible,” he says.
“Success in life to me means, you don’t have to worry about basic needs in life, you’re doing something you love, and have time to spend with those you love.”
That’s #DesignedToDoMore.
