Decatur County Jail Bids

Decatur County, Indiana–The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Board of Commissioners opened bids for the new Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center project. The new 236 bed facility includes all necessary functions of a modern-day jail with additional development space to grow. Coming in below the original construction cost estimate, this $19.5 million facility will serve the Decatur County community well into the future. This structure is also based off of a prototype design from the recently completed Adams County Jail. This space will include housing and recreational space for inmates, all inmates services, the Sheriff’s Office, a multi-purpose room, squad room and training room. Construction is expected to begin soon and opening is expected in the latter part of 2019.
