With attendance growing at both church and school, Ascension Lutheran called upon the design team at Elevatus Architecture to guide them through the process of remodeling their existing school and adding a new sanctuary onto the church. The sanctuary addition was designed to seat 400 and include a choir loft for 50. Given that the existing structure had been “added on to” multiple times, the key–and the challenge–in designing the new sanctuary was to make it the church’s “icon” while blending it seamlessly into the fabric of the existing architecture.
